(WBIR - Farragut) The inaugural Cityview Splash Jam offered fun water sports for the entire family but also featured important lessons about lake clean-up.
Rhea Richardson from Cityview magazine, one of the organizers of Saturday's event said the non-profit group, Fort Loudoun Lake Association, is responsible for cleaning the more than 50 miles of shoreline on Ft. Loudoun Lake.
He said he hopes Saturday's event raises awareness and helps people realize that any trash that gets thrown into the lake means more work for someone else to keep it from getting dirty.
"Clean water is essential. The TVA system is amazing, it's huge. You can look behind me, and you can see the amount of activities out on the lake, and it's late on a Saturday afternoon. It's really important for boater safety, swimmer safety, for a lot of reasons," Richardson said.
Richardson also said the community can expect to see this event back again next year and into the future because people enjoy it and the lake needs it.
