(WBIR-Sharp's Chapel) The Union County Sheriff's Department has determined there was no foul play involved in the deaths of a man and woman found in their home earlier this week.
The couple has been identified as James and Sylvia Jardine. Their family reported them missing on July 22. Early the next morning, deputies entered their home and found their bodies in a hot tub.
Investigators are still looking into the deaths, but they believe it was an accident. They are not releasing any further information at this time about how the couple died.
Union County deputies said they found two bodies at a home in the Sharp's Chapel area Tuesday morning.
The Union County Sheriff's Office received a report of a missing couple Monday night at 11:30 p.m.
Sgt. Mike Butcher said deputies entered the home on Lakeview Drive at about 2:45 a.m. Tuesday and found two bodies in a hot tub.
He said the bodies have been in the pool of water for an unknown amount of time.
Currently, Sgt. Butcher could not confirm if the missing couple that was sought after was the same two people found in the hot tub.
Officials said there are no obvious signs of foul play, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation in assisting in the investigation.
