President Barack Obama will kick off his "Better Bargain for the Middle Class" tour in Chattanooga on Tuesday.
The President will speak at the Amazon facility, with a focus on how manufacturing and high wage jobs are key for economic growth.
City leaders are excited about the visit.
"I think it shines a spotlight, especially in this case, on our job creation efforts," said J. Ed. Marston, VP Marketing & Communications for the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce.
Marston told WRCB-TV in Chattanooga that he was recently asked to put together a briefing book on the area for someone in Washington, DC. That may have been the precursor to this visit.
"Chattanooga really has been a national leader over the last few years," Marston continued. "We had some big hits just as the country slid into the Great Recession and immediately after, even during the Great Recession. Amazon was announced when we were still in the Great Recession."
