(WBIR - Knoxville) The City of Knoxville says it's received two bids to build a new parking garage in Downtown Knoxville that will add more than 800 spaces.
That garage is planned at Walnut, Locust, Summer, and Union, just across from the Market Square garage.
Wednesday, the city's purchasing agent Boyce Evans told 10News that a Los Angeles firm and Walnut Street Garage, LLC in Knoxville have put in bids for the garage. The city is working alongside TVA on the project.
They plan to demolish the current building so the winning bidder will just have a flat surface to work with.
The garage should create up to 1,000 new spots in Downtown Knoxville.
TVA employees will get to use the garage, and it will be open to the public for free on nights and weekends
