Donna's Old Town Cafe: Cream Style Corn

10-15 ears of fresh corn

4 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoon water , milk, or cream

Salt and proper to taste

1/2 teaspoon sugar (optional)

Cut corn of cob 2 to 3 times and scrape the cob

Cut half of kernels then cut the rest of kernels to cob, then scrape " milk" off the cob into a bowl placing bowl in sink will cut down the mess.

Place butter and water in a skillet and add corn

Stir constantly with a wooden spoon.

If corn is fresh then it will thicken in a couple minutes.

If not so fresh then 8 to 10 minutes

Add sugar salt and pepper and serve immediately

To make a thicker mixture you can add a 1 and 1/2 tablespoon of cornstarch to enough water or milk to make a paste. Add to corn during cooking process.
