(WBIR-Knoxville) A Knox County organization is making it their mission to lend support to women looking to land on their two feet and provide for their families.
A Hand up for Women on Saturday put on a rummage sale to raise money for East Tennessee women fighting to make ends meet.
The funds raised will be used to help teach women how to live independently...from finances to looking for a job.
What started as a small fundraiser organizers say has grown to be an overwhelming experience.
Board Members Misty Griffin and Eva Pierce were grateful for the support from the community.
"Yes, large amounts of stuff, truckloads of stuff," Griffin said. "We have stuff that hasn't even made it out to be sold. It was such an outpouring of people giving us stuff to try to help...that it's just kind of overwhelming."
Pierce said the group is always looking for new members.
