Jimmy Rose is staying in the national spotlight! The Pineville, Ky. singer who won hearts with his song about coal learned he's going to the semi-finals on NBC's "America's got Talent."
Rose is a veteran and former coal miner. He's known for his song, "Coal Keeps the Lights On".
Rose's family and friends threw a watch party Wednesday at the Bell County Courthouse.
Before the show aired live on NBC, the star called in to the party to thank his fans for their support.
When it was announced that Rose will advance in the competition, the crowd of more than 100 people went wild, cheering and clapping for their favorite contestant.
"I don't know, I thought I was going to pass out, I thought I was in a dream, I've never had a dream like this, it's wonderful," said Rose's mother, Virginia Middleton.
"America's Got Talent" will next air on Thursday at 8 p.m. on Channel 10.
