Thursday evening, WBIR viewers helped raise more than $200,000 to help maintain the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
The 19th annual Friends Across the Mountains telethon to benefit friends of the Smokies raised $201,423, and surpassed last year's total. The money raised will help keep the park open to visitors free of cost.
The annual telethon has raised nearly $40 million total for the park since 1993.
If you'd like a reminder of just how beautiful the park is, you can check out our album of viewer-submitted photos or submit your own at http://www.wbir.com/news/photo-gallery.aspx?storyid=284310.
