The United Way of Greater Knoxville officially kicked off its 2013 campaign Tuesday morning.
Local leaders and business professionals took over the field at UT's new training facility for the announcement to learn more about this year's campaign.
Coach Butch Jones had a cameo role in the United Way's kickoff video and also came down to talk with the crowd.
The group's chairman, Bob Kesling, says it's important for the community to get involved.
"There's so much need in our community and the United Way helps people. So I think the community is only as strong as the weakest part of your community and that's what the United Way does, it services people, 100,000 people in our community are reached each year by United Way," said Kesling.
This year's campaign has already brought in $3.3 million. That's about a quarter of the goal of $12 million.
