There is plenty going on in East Tennessee this weekend and one of the big things is comedian Tommy Davidson performing at Side Splitters. The Tennessee Theatre is pulling double duty this weekend. On Friday and Sunday, Summer Movie Magic has National Lampoon's Animal House. Tickets are $8. Show starts at 8pm Friday and 2pm Sunday. On Saturday, country star Corey Smith will showcase hits off his latest album, "Live in Chattanooga". Tickets to this show are $25. Doors open at 7pm.
Saturday at the Knoxville Zoo, get up close to some big machinery. It's "Touch a Truck" day running from 10am to 2pm. Kids can get hands on with construction equipment, a fire engine and many other monsters of the road. The price for this event is included in the zoo's general admission.
If it's too hot outside for you, head to Cherokee Caverns for "Cool Down In The Cave". The caverns are a nice 58 degrees year round and will be open for tours Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Tickets are $8.
Steve Earle & The Dukes will be joined by special guest The Mastersons Saturday night at the Bijou Theatre. Earle has had hits performed by Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and countless others. Tickets to the show are $29.50. Curtain goes up at 8pm.
The 3rd Annual Q & Brew kicks off Saturday at the Lighthouse Knoxville. You've got barbecue, brew-tasting and live music with proceeds going to benefit the Arthritis Foundation. The event goes from 6:30pm to 10:30pm. You can get tickets at www.knoxvilleqandbrew.org.
Racing's back at Bristol Motor Speedway. Friday night, it's the Food City 250 starting at 7:30pm. Saturday night, racing's fastest half mile will host the Irwin Tools Night Race. There's no such thing as a bad seat at Bristol so grab you tickets today.
Speaking of racing, East Tennessee Drift takes over Chilhowee Park on Saturday. Watch drivers send their cars sideways in this truly unique vehicular art form. Gates open at 10am. Tickets for those over 12 years old are $10.
Hit the water Saturday for the 7th Annual Paddle for Clean Water event. Paddlers will meet at Sequoyah Park at 9am and then head over to Ned McWherter Park for 5 miles of fun on the water. Tickets are $30 and go to benefit Loudon Lake Association's mission to clean the lake.
The 5th Annual Saturday Night Gospel on Market Square takes place, you guessed it, Saturday night on Market Square. It's a night of free, uplifting music that goes from 5pm to 9pm.
