A heavy duty haul could disrupt traffic for thousands of East Tennesseeans this week.

Barnhart Crane and Rigging is working with T-Dot to move a large generator 60 miles from Knoxville to Greeneville.

They are set to start the trek Monday at 7:00 p.m. They will begin at the Forks of The River Industrial Park in Southeast Knox County and take John Sevier highway to Strawberry Plains Pike.

From there they'll continue Northeast to Asheville highway, heading through Jefferson City. Near Morristown, the crews will take State Route 160 to U.S. 25E.

They are expected to finish the trek to Greeneville later this week.

The truck, transportation rigging, and generator will weigh a total of 256 tons. It will stretch 16 feet wide, 175 feet long, and take up two travel lanes. To safely move the generator, they can only drive between 8 and 25 miles per hour.
