(WBIR-Knox County) Knox County Commissioner Brad Anders announced Monday he will more than likely run for the board's chairmanship.
"I think I fully intended to put my name in the hat on Sept. 3," he said during a public meeting Monday morning.
If Anders goes after the chairmanship, he will run against current board Vice Chairman R. Larry Smith. Smith announced his intentions for the seat a while ago. Current Chairman Tony Norman won't run for the title again and said the board will decide on Sept. 3.
Anders, who has served as vice chairman, narrowly lost the chairmanship to Norman last year. Anders would need six votes from the 11-member board to win. Commissioner Richard Briggs won't vote during the meeting because he'll be on a medical trip.
