(WBIR - Alcoa, TN) After three years of design and 18 months of construction work, McGhee Tyson Airport unveiled its new maintenance center Wednesday afternoon.
The 68,000 square foot facility is what the airport describes as a "major" capital improvement.
It puts building, maintenance and electrical functions all under one roof. It also has storage space for equipment.
The new building replaces an older building that no longer fits the airport's needs.
The building was mostly paid for through airport user fees from the F-A-A.
