A Morgan County principal, charged with child abuse after claims she excessively spanked a student, is now being sued.

Former Sunbright Elementary principal Elizabeth Boyd, Morgan County's director of schools, and the county are being sued by the boy's parents.

Sandra Hall and Jason Williams want $1.7 million in damages.

Last August, they say Boyd paddled their son, Lukas Williams, eight times. According to court documents, Lukas' parents said their son suffered from severe bruising and swelling and was so scared to go back to school that he's now home schooled.
