Thursday night's games started off with Jefferson County at Central. Both teams had bye weeks last week so each started off fresh tonight.
Things began to heat up when Jefferson County's Dearies Jones brought the offense inside of the ten to place the Patriots in scoring position. However, it was Malik Styles who put the points up on the board to push the Patriots ahead 9-6.
It is during the second half though when Jefferson County pulls away. Central thinks they are getting tricky with the reverse, but they can not fool Jefferson County. The ball comes lose into the arms of a Patriot.
Jefferson County wins 32-20 over Central.
Half-an-hour later Carter kicked off at Cocke County. The tension was in the air at this game.
Carter was coming off of a 54-48 win over Gibbs while Cocke County coming from a 0-35 loss to Gatlinburg-Pittman. Each team at very different points to start their seasons.
During the first half neither team could find the endzone. There was penalty after penalty as the players and coaches were very vocal with their opinions on the ref's calls.
It was during the second quarter that Carter quarterback, Jonathon Freeman, was able to sneak into the endzone to put some points on the board. Carter was not finished though as they faked an extra point to Austin Howard to put up another two points.
Things went downhill for Cocke County at this point as they could not hold onto the ball. Carter recovers one of the four consecutive fumbles to put them in scoring range.
Freeman would once again push his way to put up another six.
