UPDATE: Mickelson is currently -8 after 12 holes. Following his eagle on No. 2 he parred No. 3, a par 3. No. 4 is a par 4, 298 yard hole. Players can drive it but it has some tricks to it.

Phil Mickelson shot a 28 on his first nine at the Deutsche Bank Championship Friday.

Mickelson, who started on the back nine, had seven birdies. He started with birdies on No. 10 and 11, parred 12 and 13 and then birdied his way into the clubhouse.

The British Open winner, paired today with Tiger Woods and Adam Scott, did give a shot back on No. 1 as he bogeyed the par 4 hole.

However, he came roaring back with an eagle on the par 5, second hole to go to -8 after the first 11 holes.

The $8 million Deutsche Bank is played at the TPC Boston in Norton, Mass. The final round will be Monday. Woods, Scott and Mickelson are ranked 1-2-3 in the FedExCup standings. The trio have not been grouped together since the first two rounds of the 2008 U.S. Open.

The top 70 players move to Round 3 of the four-tournament FedExCup playoffs with the final tournament being The Tour Championship by Coca Cola in Atlanta on Sept. 19.
