TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) - The debate about whether to authorize military action against Syria is injecting foreign policy into a Senate race in Arkansas that many had expected to hinge on domestic issues such as the national debt and health care.

Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor said Monday he has questions about what American interests would be served as he weighs whether to support President Barack Obama's request to intervene in Syria.

Rep. Tom Cotton, his Republican challenger, supports military intervention and says he hopes to help draft a resolution that will lead to decisive and effective action.

Obama announced Saturday he'd seek congressional approval for any military action.

Officeholders around the country encountered concerns from voters about Syria as they attended events marking the Labor Day weekend.
