Early voting opens for Knoxville primary election

(WBIR-Knoxville) Early voting started Wednesday in Knoxville for the city's primary election.

Five of the city council positions are technically up for vote.  However, three of the races are uncontested, while two races have two candidates. Rick Staples is challenging incumbent Nick Della Volpe in the fourth district. The sixth district race pits Charles "Pete" Drew against Daniel Brown.

Early voting for the primary continues until Thursday, Sept. 19.  Election Day for the primary is September 24. The regular election will be on Nov. 5.

Below are five early voting locations:

  • City-County Building: 400 Main
  • Downtown West: 1543 Downtown West Blvd.
  • Love Kitchen: 2418 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave
  • New Harvest Park: 4775 New Harvest Lane
  • South: 4026 Chapman Highway (Next to Emery's 5&10)
