(WBIR-Maryville) A proposed sales tax increase in Maryville will go before voters.
The city council unanimously decided Tuesday night to put a referendum on the ballot. The city has proposed a half percent sales tax increase, which would move the tax rate from 9.25 to 9.75. It would generate about $2.5 million dollars more each year.
Half of the money would help fund city projects. The other half would go to the schools.
