Greene County deputies are looking for suspects they say stole from the dead.
Cemetery caretakers at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens say someone stole nearly 100 vases from graves Monday night. At $200 a vase, deputies say the thieves got off with nearly $20,000.
This isn't the first time thieves have targeted the cemetery. Caretakers say thieves stole 60 vases a couple years ago.
The cemetery says it is committed to righting the wrong.
"We'll take care of it. Some people think it won't get replaced, but it does. It takes a little bit of time. It will be a few weeks but it will all be replaced," said Lee Fowler.
"I don't think people should steal off the dead. That's how I feel. That's how I was raised. I just don't think it's right," said Francis Ricker, a visitor to the cemetery.
The sheriff's office has not made any arrests, but deputies are looking at several security options.
