Bank of America 500 postponed until Sunday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Saturday's Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway has been postponed as torrential rain from Hurricane Matthew drenched the Carolinas Saturday morning. 

The race is scheduled to run Sunday at noon on NBC. Pre-race coverage will air at 11:30 a.m. on NBC Sports Network.

The decision to postpone the race was announced at 10:30 a.m.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series race, which was postponed due to rain on Friday, will be run 45 minutes after the Bank of America 500 finishes Sunday on NBC Sports Network. Charlotte Motor Speedway announced that tickets to the Bank of America 500 will also be good for the Drive for the Cure 300. Admission for the Xfinity Series race will begin immediately following the Bank of America 500.

 

Saturday's postponement marks the second consecutive year the Bank of America 500 has been moved to the following Sunday due to rain. Joey Logano is the defending race winner.
