Crash in Utah kills 2 people from Knoxville

(WBIR) A man and woman from Knoxville were killed in a head-on collision in Utah's Capitol Reef National Park.

The Utah Highway Patrol said officials pronounced Stephen Foster, 43, and Kristina Foster, 41, dead at the scene Wednesday morning. Both lived in Knoxville.

Troopers said the Fosters were traveling eastbound on State Route 24 when the driver of an oncoming pickup truck drifted off the roadway, overcorrected and then hit the Fosters' 2005 Scion head-on.

Officials said the Fosters weren't wearing seat belts, but investigators said they're not sure if that would have saved the couple because the crash was so violent.

Crews took the driver of the pickup truck, Chad Roderick, 73, of Torrey, Utah, to a local hospital for minor injuries

Officials are still investigating the accident.
