Several Blount County businesses were cited with selling alcohol to a person under age 21 during the Blount County Sheriff's Office's recent alcohol compliance check.
35 alcohol retailers were checked for compliance, and eight people were cited during the multi-jurisdictional countywide check on October 26: Jacquelene Elizabeth Barineau of Alice's Place, Mark Brackings of Attled Ant, William Edward Glenn of Metro Pizza, Sean Daniel Kennedy, Solval Tzunun Esduardo of Mi Tienda, Donna Jo Seaton of RiteQuik, Mary Jo McCulloch of Shell / J Gopal Inc., and Rebecca Ann Monn of Subs & Such.
All offenders are scheduled to appear in court before the end of November.
Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong says that a majority of alcohol retailers are properly IDing their customers in an effort to reduce underage drinking. “We are proud of the 80 percent of retailers who passed this year’s compliance check, and appreciate their dedication and efforts to prevent underage alcohol use."
