Clerk fired at man suspected in two armed robberies

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who may have robbed two Knox County businesses.

On Wednesday morning, a man who said he had a gun attempted to rob the Rocky Top Market, located at 308 East Emory Road, around 4:17 a.m. The robber fled when the clerk pulled his own gun and fired at him. The man ran from the store and got away. Authorities do not believe he was injured.

The description of the man matches the one of the suspect in a robbery of the Dollar General store on Raccoon Valley Road Monday night. Investigators believe it may have been the same man in both robberies.
