KPD: 3 teens commit string of robberies near UT

(WBIR-Knoxville) Knoxville police said three teens, ages ranging from 15-16, committed a string of robberies near the University of Tennessee early Sunday morning.

The suspects allegedly robbed a student as he was walking back to his dorm room near Lake Avenue at about 12:30 a.m.

The second incident happened shortly before 2 a.m. near Reese Hall. According to a police report, the suspects stole money and a cell phone from two victims.

Police said trio then stole money from a man in a parking lot on Cumberland Avenue. No one was injured during the three incidents.

Officers found three teens matching the suspects' descriptions near 16th Street and Clinch Avenue. They detained the two suspects immediately. The third suspect fled on foot but was found and taken into custody minutes later.

KPD confirmed the suspects had property stolen from the four victims. They charged them with three counts of robbery and transported them to a juvenile detention facility.
