Ky. man indicted after Oneida police shooting

Authorities are holding Shannon O'Regan on a $225,000 bond.

A Kentucky man faces multiple charges after police say they shot him during a confrontation in August in a Scott County store parking lot.

Shannon O'Regan, 30, of Pine Knot, Ky., was indicted Tuesday by a Scott County grand jury. Charges against him include aggravated assault and drug possession counts. He was being held Wednesday in lieu of $250,000 bond after turning himself in.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation investigated the case.

In August, Oneida police were sent to a Walmart parking lot on Alberta Street to check out a report of a domestic disturbance.

"Upon arrival, they encountered Shannon O’Regan," a news release from the TBI states. "When O’Regan exited the vehicle he was in, he pointed a gun at officers. The officers fired at O’Regan, striking him once."

At the request of 8th Judicial District Attorney General Jared Effler, the TBI was called in to review the shooting.
