Man in custody after multi-county chase

The Knox County Sheriff's Office says one man is in custody following a pursuit that crossed three counties Friday afternoon.

According to KCSO, a deputy tried to stop a driver on Pellissippi Parkway at Hardin Valley Road around 3:45 p.m., but the driver refused to stop.

The driver led officers on a chase through Anderson County, Oak Ridge, Clinton City and Sevier County, the sheriff's office said.

Once they reached the French Broad River on Betsy Court, the driver drove into the water, and swam from the vehicle before being taken into custody, the sheriff's office said.

The driver's name was not released. The sheriff's office did not say what charges the driver may face.
