Man sought in KPD chase caught in Jefferson County

Police in Jefferson County arrested a man Tuesday night who authorities say led them on a multi-agency chase that started in Knoxville.

Jefferson County Sheriff Bud McCoig said he did not yet know the man's name. Deputies were getting ready about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday to tow the white car the man drove in the pursuit, he said.

Knoxville Police Department officers pursued the man for a bit Tuesday before terminating the chase. They alerted authorities in Jefferson County the man was headed east on Interstate 40.

McCoig said a deputy spotted the vehicle and began a pursuit. A Dandridge police officer joined in, and the driver collided with the officer, according to McCoig.

No one was injured.

The chase continued for several miles, ending up on Briggs Road.

The man ditched the car and began running on foot, the sheriff said.

Officers gave chase on foot.

After about 100 yards, they caught the man and detained him, McCoig said.
