McDonald's burglar had key, knew how to get into safe

Investigators with the Knox County Sheriff's Office are trying to determine who used a key to get into a local McDonald's early this morning and stole more than $2000 dollars from the safe.

The burglary happened around 2:00 am Friday at the McDonald's located at 11205 Kingston Pike in Farragut.

According to the incident report, surveillance video showed the suspect entering the restaurant with a key, accessing the safe, then leaving the restaurant with the cash.

Workers told deputies that the man on the surveillance tape may have been a former employee who still had a key and knew the pass code to the safe.

No arrests have been made.
