Last week, a robotics team visiting Knoxville from Virginia was the victim of a crime. After winning top honors in a local competition, the SUV holding their robot, trophies, and other personal items was stolen from their hotel parking lot.
Now, those items have been found in a wooded area of Cocke County.

According to Knoxville Police, a tip came into the Newport Police Department, saying the stolen robot had been dumped in the woods. They found it, along with most of the other things in the SUV. The SUV is still missing.
Darrell DeBusk, public information officer for KPD, said officers made the trip to Cocke County on Tuesday to pick up the recovered items, and most of them were in good shape. They have notified Loudoun County schools in Virginia, and offcials there are making arrangements to pick up the items.
The "Robo Loco" team was competing in regional FIRST robotics championship. Their win in Knoxville earned them an invitation to the world championships, and they were were scrambling to get their practice robot ready for the next competition, which takes place in St. Louis later this month.
After the theft, the team's local community rallied around them, raising $15,000 to help them get ready for the event.
The missing white Chevrolet Tahoe has Virginia plates. The last four characters are 086L.
