Investigators said that on July 18 two deputies with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office were trying to serve warrants for domestic assault and reckless endangerment at Letner's home at 809 Letner Road.

While searching the home, deputies encountered Letner, who had a hand tool with him. There was an altercation and one of the deputies shot Letner in the hand.

Authorities served Letner on Tuesday in the Scott County Jail. He is currently being held on a $100,000 bond.
