Family, friends hold vigil for Erin Corwin

Family and friends of Erin Corwin held a candlelight vigil near her home in California Monday evening.

Organizers told people to wear purple, her favorite color. A statement from the organizers said that instead of flowers, attendees should donate to the San Bernardino Search and Rescue team.

Corwin was an Oak Ridge native and Marine wife who went missing in June. Corwin's body was found August 16th and recovered a day later in an abandoned mine shaft outside of Twentynine Palms, California.

A member of the "Where is Erin" Facebook page is petitioning the Bureau of Land Management to close abandoned mine shafts in California, starting with those in the area where investigators found Corwin's body. The group hopes to get 10,000 signatures.

Corwin's accused killer Christopher Lee was booked into the San Bernardino County Jail early Monday morning. He has a hearing scheduled Tuesday afternoon.
