CDC: 1 in 10 deaths caused by heavy drinking

One in 10 deaths among Americans between ages 20 and 64 is due to excessive alcohol consumption, which is 88,000 people every year.

Of the 88,000, 70 percent are men, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Women are considered heavy drinkers if they have eight or more drinks a week. For men, it's 15 or more drinks.

One drink is considered 12 ounces of beer or five ounces of wine.
