Mobile medical clinic wraps up for summer

A traveling clinic which brings care to patients is parking for the summer.

The St. Mary's Legacy Clinic is a mobile center which drives to rural counties and gives free health services.

In Crab Orchard Tuesday, it saw its last patients for the summer.

What looks like a large trailer from the outside is actually a fully functioning doctor's office inside. The clinic provides basic care and puts an emphasis on patients with high blood pressure and diabetes who need frequent care.

"By us being in a community on a regular basis, we're able to start having an impact on some of those chronic diseases," said Sister Mariana Koonce.

The service recently broke ground on a new headquarters where they'll house the truck, offices, and supplies.

St. Mary's Legacy Clinic has its first fall clinic scheduled for Tuesday, August 26th at Crab Orchard.
