Knox veteran thanked with home makeover

One local veteran received a thank you for his service in the form of a makeover for his home.

78-year-old Rober Hubbard used to have a home without air conditioning or heating. Now, thanks to a project from Fifth Third Bank and Rebuilding Together Knoxville, Hubbard will have a way to keep warm this winter.

This project included installing an HVAC unit in his home, refurbishing parts of his kitchen, and rebuilding a shed behind his house.

Fifth Third Bank funded the project with grant money. This grant went out to five cities in the country.

Hubbard couldn't believe he was selected for this rare opportunity.

"I'm just absolutely honored. It's just unbelievable. It's just unbelievable to me that it could happen to me," said Hubbard

Thursday was the final day of the project. Volunteers finished up the kitchen and shed so Hubbard can get comfortable in his new and improved home.
