About 56 million Americans have some type of disability according to the latest Census data.
In Knoxville this week, city leaders are focusing on how to best accommodate those with disabilities.
The City of Knoxville and Construction Specifications Institute are presenting the East Tennessee Accessibility Event this Friday.

The event's goal is to show how to create access for people with disabilities through design, products and construction. Some of the events include a product show, experiential areas, presentations and education seminars. Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero will be the keynote speaker.
