Around 23 percent of Tennesseans older than 18 smoke on a regular basis, according to a recent report from America's Health Rankings. As the new year quickly approaches, many will resolve to quit.
Now, new technology aims making that process a little easier. In early January, Covenant Health will release its Stop Smoking app. It allows smokers to input the number of cigarettes per day they smoke. The app then projects a quit date after a tapering down period. As the smoker reduces the number cigarettes they smoke each day, the app keeps a running tab of how much money they are saving.
