3 hospitalized after I-75 crash early Sunday morning

(WBIR- Monroe County) Three women were airlifted to the hospital after a crash on I-75 in Monroe County early Sunday morning.

Tennessee Highway Patrol said the driver at fault, Jennifer Benton, 28, of Sweetwater, was traveling at a high rate of speed when she rear-ended another driver, and flipped the vehicle into the median.

Benton, and the passenger, Vanessa Lathan, 33, of Cleveland, were ejected.

THP said the driver Benton rear-ended, identified as Susan Chabot-Mack, 66, also flipped and had to be extricated.

A trooper said alcohol was likely a factor and said Benton and Lathan were not wearing seat belts.

Life Star helicopters flew the three women to UT Medical Center.

The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. near the Sweetwater exit.

As of 8:30 p.m. Sunday, UT Medical Center said Vanessa Lathan was listed in serious condition, Susan Chabot-Mack was listed in fair, and no condition update was available for Jennifer Benton.
