ARGUING FOR A CONDEMNED KILLER

A written ruling is expected soon in the case for a Tennessee death row inmate who is arguing for reasonable access to his attorney during the execution.Lawyers for condemned killer Robert Glen Coe told a federal judge in Nashville that their client's mental state will deteriorate soon.As a result, they say Coe will become incompetent to know he's being put to death. The attorneys asked Judge Aleta Trauger for access to their client and a mental health professional up to the moment of Coe's execution.Meanwhile, an assistant state Attorney General says Coe already has reasonable access.Right now he can call or see his lawyers up to one hour before the execution.Coe is scheduled to be put to death by lethal injection at 2:00 Eastern time Wednesday morning.
