Arrest made in accidental shooting death of high school wrestler

Almost a year to the day after 17-year-old Skyler Daniel Boring was accidentally shot to death, a teenager has been charged in the case.

The teen, who was 17 years old at the time of the shooting, has been charged with criminally negligent homicide. He has been booked into the Blount County Juvenile Detention Facility.

The shooting happened on May 28, 2013. Boring was flown to UT Medial Center by helicopter, and died a short time later.

Boring was a wrestler at Heritage High School. He had graduated just days before his death.

In November 2013, his family created a scholarship foundation in his name.

Boring's family says they're grateful someone has been charged, but they aren't satisfied.

"He well knew what he was doing," said Amy Boring, Skyler's mother. "And you cannot point a shotgun at someone and kill them and get a slap on the wrist. That's crap."

His family says Boring helped pay bills and even turned down scholarship offers in order to stay with his mom.
