Baumgartner completes home detention sentence

Former Knox County Criminal Judge Richard Baumgartner has officially completed his federal sentence. His attorney, Don Bosch, confirmed to 10News that as of last week, Baumgartner is off home detention.

Last November, a jury found Baumgartner guilty of five counts of misprision of a felony, meaning he had knowledge of and covered up drug crimes to feed his addiction to painkillers.

He began serving his six month sentence back in May at a West Virginia prison camp.

His attorney says the former judge will still be under federal supervision for a year.
