BLOUNT COUNTY - UPDATE, 2:45 P.M. THURSDAY: Preliminary autopsy results show that Philip Don Davis shot Francis Inman Caines inside her home on Lovers Lane in Townsend and then shot himself, Blount County Sheriff James Berrong said Thursday.
The Blount County Sheriff's Office, the Townsend Police Department and the Townsend Volunteer Fire Department responded to Caines' home Tuesday evening.
There were juvenile witnesses to the shootings, Berrong said.
Officials did not describe the relationship between Davis and Caines.
PREVIOUS STORY: The Blount County Sheriff's Office is investigating an apparent murder/suicide that occurred on Lovers Lane in Townsend Tuesday evening.
Sheriff James Berrong said 46-year-old Philip Don Davis, of Davis Road, and 42-year-old Francis Inman Caines were found dead inside Caines' home on Lovers Lane.
Autopsies are being conducted at the Knox County Regional Forensic Center.
The sheriff's office said they are investigating this as a murder suicide, and are interviewing a juvenile witness.
More information is expected to be released Thursday.
