BOE vote for new chairperson delayed

It'll be another month before the Knox County Board of Education will decide who will be their next chairperson.

The first meeting with four new members on the board was held Wednesday, and one of the top priorities was electing a new chairperson. Current chairperson Lynne Fugate says she doesn't want the position anymore.

The vote was tied, four for Mike McMillian, four for Doug Harris. There are normally nine members of the BOE, but Patti Bounds is currently out of the country.

The board voted to move the decision on a new leader to October 1st.
