Brush fire threatens cabins in Sevier County

Oct. 15, 2016: A cabin fire sparked a brush fire that burned about 75 acres in Sevier County.

Sevier County fire crews have contained a 75-acre brush fire that started after a cabin caught fire Saturday afternoon.

Authorities said Emergency Management, rescue squads and fire crews from across Sevier County responded to the fire.

People in the radius of the brush fire said Sevier County deputies went door to door to get people evacuated. No injuries have been reported.

Crews were dispatched around 3:30 p.m. Saturday to a cabin fire in the Summit Trail on Bluff Mountain in the foothills west of Sevierville. Dispatch crews said the structure fire grew out of control and caused the brush fire.

Officials said the cabin owners were not home when the fire started.
