Sept. 6, 2016: The Blount County Sheriff's Office believes the shot ricocheted before hitting the boy. His injury is not life threatening.

UPDATE: A bullet grazed a 9-year-old Blount County boy on the forehead when his mother accidentally fired a pistol, sending a shot through a second-story floor to the room below, according to Blount County authorities.

No charge will be filed against the mother, according to Blount County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Marian O'Briant.
