Christmas in the City takes over Downtown Knoxville

Nov. 25, 2016: It's Christmas in Knoxville! The city lit the 42-foot Christmas tree in Krutch Park Friday night.

It's Christmas in the City in Knoxville!

The downtown area is transforming into a winter wonderland Friday with a variety of holiday-themed events throughout Market Square and Krutch Park.  

The Regal Celebration of Lights lasts from 6 to 9 p.m. Get there early to hear Blue Line Blues perform some rockin' Christmas tunes on stage in Krutch Park Extension at 5:30 p.m. and watch the lighting of the 42-foot Christmas tree at 6 p.m.

The WDVX Holiday Ho Ho Hoedown kicks off at 6:30 with free music until 9 p.m. on the Market Square Stage. Check out a full list of performers here.

Knoxville's open air ice skating rink, Holidays on Ice, opens for the season in Market Square at 4 p.m.  The season features daily events until Jan. 8. Find daily hours and ticket information here. 

Window Wonderland also begins Friday with windows of restaurants and merchants decorated to create a Peppermint Trail. Participating vendors will sell peppermint items.
