Officials ID mother & son who died in Grainger Co. fire

(WBIR) State officials identified the mother and son killed in a Grainger County house fire days before Thanksgiving.

A spokesperson for the Tennessee State Department of Commerce and Insurance confirmed that Barbara Jean Bowens, 34, and John Cena Bowens, 3, died after their home in Bean Station caught on fire Monday, Nov. 25.

State fire investigators believe a kerosene heater in the living room sparked the fire.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the woman and her young son. They are waiting on autopsy results to confirm the identities, and hope to have those results by early next week
