Rutledge man charged with shooting father in the face

(WBIR) Grainger County deputies said a Rutledge man shot his father in the face early Thursday morning.

A witness told deputies William Gregg, 32, shot his father, 70-year-old William Gregg, in the face at his Rutledge home on 148 Cockrum Road. The two were apparently arguing about the handgun and why the son had it.

A helicopter flew the father to the University of Tennessee Medical Center where he's listed in stable condition.

Officials arrested the 32-year-old man and charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, attempted aggravated burglary, criminal trespassing, and violating his parole.
