KNOXVILLE - The Knoxville community showed up to watch the third race in the 2017 Knox MTB Wednesday Series.
The cross county mountain bike races run nearly every Wednesday from April through July, featuring six courses in the Knoxville area.
The May 10 race was held at Baker Creek Preserve in South Knoxville. Everyone from seasoned MTB veterans to children as young as 9-years-old were able to race in different classes and competitions.
Organizers said the mountain bike community has grown in the last decade.
"It's great to see. It's healthy, your family's out doing it and you have fun racing your bike or riding your bike," MTB series organizer Chris Kimble said. "But you know, it's fun to have competition and it makes you push just that much harder ... something to look forward to."
More than 80 people showed up to race. The next will be held on May 24 on the north side of IC King Park.
