Dogs dress up for 'Black Ties and Tails'

(WBIR-Downtown Knoxville) Some four legged friends got dressed up, and so did their owners, to raise money for a good cause. PetSafe held its third-annual "Black Ties and Tails Gala" Saturday night at the Crowne Plaza in Knoxville.

10News anchor John Becker helped out with the ceremonies.

The gala benefited the Morris Animal Foundation to find a cure for canine cancer.

The people in the room got food and drinks. The dogs got to treat themselves to a pup-buffet of food and treats. They even got some professional pictures taken.

One of the organizers says the pups are the hit of the party. He also said it's all for a very important cause.

"We find that 1 in 2 dogs will be affected by cancer in their lifetime, which means we are affected because they're our best friends. So we feel really strongly that we want to see research that will put an end to that so that people can be with their best friends as long as possible," said Jim Tedford of PetSafe.

PetSafe also partnered up with the Morris Animal Foundation to host the K9 cancer walk in September to help raise awareness of canine cancer and support research.
